Explanation

The video features a pale woman (presumably "Miss Murder") sitting at an ornately carved desk, and stamping an AFI "Decemberunderground" logo (3 rabbits evenly spaced around an AFI logo), then folding the paper and placing it in her mouth. In a separate ornately decorated building, Davey sits at a similar desk with a mirror, and pulls the same paper out of his mouth. Upon unfolding it, he sees the symbol, knowing that it is the indication of his imminent end.

The song begins, Hunter, Jade, and Adam spaced in a triangular fashion in the Grand Hall of the building, playing the song. Davey walks to the balcony, and standing on the ledge, begins saluting and rallying the massive mob that has gathered in the streets below. Davey is rallying the crowd to him, knowing that Miss Murder is coming for him.

Just before the bridge of the song, Miss Murder's face is revealed for the first time. She carries with her a black rabbit, and sets it on the ground. There is a shot of Davey turning in the chair of his desk, and seeing 16 black rabbits on the floor behind his desk. Davey picks one up and places it on his lap, seeming to resign to the fact that he is inevitably going to die. Suddenly the crowd in the street beneath the ledge disappears and Davey sees Miss Murder exiting out of the doorway of the building across the street. He becomes enraged, and returns to his desk to await his death. As the song finishes, Miss Murder approaches behind him, and touches his shoulder. Davey closes his eyes with a sigh, suggesting he's passed, while the rabbit cowers.

The video went on to receive three nods in the MTV Video Music Awards, but took home just one: that of the Best Rock Video.

Explanation

The video starts by showing the band in a snowy forest setting. They slowly walk through the dark forest, slowly stumbling and growing further apart, implying they grow apart from each other. As guitarist Jade Pudget stumbles, lead singer Davey Havok wakes up in a small mound of snow. A cloaked woman appears, seeming to have some kind of relationship with Havok. Through the video, Havok follows the hooded woman into what appears to be a snowy clearing in the forest. It ends with the cloaked woman taking off her hood, revealing eyes which are black and unfriendly, literally blowing Havok away. Then he falls through the ice into a lake. He tries to escape, but the water above refreezes, sealing him underwater. He then mouths words. Havok is drowning when the woman appears underwater and grabs him, turns him around, and holds him. The video then shows Havok from an overhead angle and he is sinking. Although many say that the woman is then gone, this is just a trick of the camera angle. The woman, who is in fact "The beautiful embodiment of hopelessness" according to Havok, is still there, her face opposite Havok's.

Facts

• Near the end, after the blizzard, the protagonist (Havok) catches sight of a pair of arms, frozen in place. These arms belong to Smith Puget (AFI's tour manager), brother to AFI's guitarist, Jade Puget. Though in the context of the video, it appears that the pair of frozen arms belong to Jade himself.
• The girl in the video is named Christina Petrovic.
• "Por Siempre" means "Forever", or "For Always" in Spanish.
• There is a popular piano version of the song made by a piano artist known as "The Pianocian" on YouTube.
• Evanescence's "Lithium" music video bears a striking resemblance to the video of "Love Like Winter". The latter was shot and released two months previously.
• After some internet rumors that Apoptygma Berzerk will be remixing the song, it was discovered that VNV Nation will in fact be remixing the song. They previously remixed Miss Murder.
• On January 21, 2007 AFI performed this song on Saturday Night Live, along with their previous single, Miss Murder. The soundboard crashed before the band took the stage for Miss Murder, resulting in intermittently muted vocals.

today was pretty cool because i got to push my teacher out of my face. probly a highlight of the year. anyway, i was at the pools with my class and room 1 and we had to do swimming. it was so cold! i didnt even jump in the outside pool until i got introuble. me and Lusinda were getting realy cold so we ran away to the spa. the life gaurd dude was all like "i dont mind if you jump in"...fucking child rapest!! yea, so we were about to jump in but the Lusinda's teacher came so we quikly ran away. i just hanged out with Cushla for most of the time, drawing pictures of davey havok, patrick stump, pete wetz, gerard way and bam. it looked absalutly nothing like the real things. oh, yeah! i almost foregot. i was standing by the pool and my teacher came up to me and was just like "what if you step back" and started pushing me backwords. eww!! i felt her boob so i kinda freaked out and pushed her the fuck out of my face. it was so fun! i should of pushed her into the pool.

then when we got back to school we went into the library to disturb the peace so we were 'reading' some mags. then we saw this hot as fall out boy poster and Cushla was just like, FREAKING OUT! she was all like 'omgomgomgomgomgomg!' and started ripping out the pages. i was just like trying to hold her. then we ripped it out and i put it in my toges( i forgot to bring some undies to the pools...shh!) and then we left.

this freak boy was standing outside my classroom and he was being loud and anoying so my teacher told him to came inside. she was growling him and he was just being rude and shit. my teacher kinda lost it...i think. she just cracked up laughing. it was scary! then she left the room to take that weird boy to somewhere. when she left he room everyone cracked up laughing. it was so funny. we didnt even know what we were laughing bowt 

the rest of the day was pretty much normal. i got in trouble for doing basicly nothing, moana(a fat jelous bitch) was being herself...a bitch! and, yeah. just school stuff

i have been on the computer for hours!!
